AlmaEnglish Placement Test

Booking period start

  • Bologna: from Tuesday, 26 January 2021 at 10 am until all places taken
  • Romagna: from Monday, 25 January 2021 at 10 at 10 am until all places taken

Booking period end

Tuesday, 2 February 2021 at 10 am unless all places already taken

Who can book

Students properly enrolled for first, second or single cycle degrees

Dates of online placement tests

Online placement testing will take place:
  • Bologna: Tuesday 9 – Friday 12 February 2021
  • Romagna: Monday 8 – Wednesday 10 February 2021
Students who have booked a test will receive instructions for accessing the online placement test at their Unibo email address. It is recommended that you check your university mailbox regularly, including the spam box.

Documents required and technical support necessary

  • Unibo badge;
  • identity card or passport. The identity card must be a valid original document without any damage i.e. not ripped or stuck together with adhesive tape;
  • desktop or laptop computer with a webcam and a microphone, connected to the Internet (Browsers supported: Internet Explorer 11, Edge/Firefox (latest version)/Chrome (latest version) for Windows; Safari version 9 or later for Mac OS);
  • Zoom software installed as per the instructions to be sent by the AlmaEnglist Help desk to students taking the placement test.
NB Any student who does not have the technical support necessary should contact the AlmaEnglish Help desk well in advance of the test dates.

Publication of course timetables

The course timetables will be published on Tuesday, 23 February 2021 at 12 noon in the ‘Highlights’ section, which will be made visible at the same time.

Start of course enrolment period for students continuing their AlmaEnglish training path

from Wednesday, 24 February 2021 at 12 noon until all places taken.

Publication of list of admitted students and start of course enrolment period for newly-admitted students

from Thursday, 25 February 2021 at 12 noon until all places taken.

Enrolment period end

Monday, 1 March 2021, at 12 noon

Where to enrol

On this page, by clicking on the link entitled ‘AlmaEnglish course enrolment’ in the ‘Highlights’ section, which will be made visible when enrolments start.

The system will send e-mail confirmation of enrolment to your institutional e-mail address.

Who can enrol

Students admitted and students who passed an AlmaEnglish B1+/B1++ course in the previous semester.

Course locations

In the 2nd semester 2020-2021 AlmaEnglish courses will be offered both online and in the classroom. Face-to-face courses will be held:
  • Bologna: via Ugo Foscolo 7
  • Cesena: via dell'Università 50
  • Forlì: via Lombardini 5
  • Ravenna: via Oberdan 1
  • Rimini: via Angherà 22

Calendar

Two lessons every week between 1 March and 28 May 2021, on the days specified and at the times specified.

Lessons will not be held from Thursday, 1 to Tuesday, 6 April 2021.

 

IELTS Academic test

Enrolment

Enrolment dates will be communicated by email to the candidates’ University (Unibo) address.

Who can enrol

Students admitted to the IELTS test who receive the above communication

Location of the IELTS test

All students will sit the IELTS certification tests in Bologna. The location address will be stated in the invitation that the candidates will receive via e-mail, approximately one week before the IELTS test.

IELTS certification test dates

  • Saturday, 12 June 2021
  • Saturday, 19 June 2021
  • Saturday, 10 July 2021
  • Saturday, 17 July 2021
  • Saturday, 24 July 2021

Please note that these dates may be subject to further changes.

The oral tests may be held on the same day as the written tests, or on a date before or after that of the written tests.

Please note that it is not possible to opt in advance for one of the above dates. Accordingly, there is no guarantee that the certification test can be sat on the desired date.

Documents required

Only national identity cards or passports are accepted for the IELTS test. The identity card must be a valid document without any damage i.e. not ripped or stuck together with adhesive tape. The following documents cannot be used to take the test: driving licences, identity cards or passports that have expired or are in poor condition, a document other than that used to enrol for the IELTS test. Please check the expiry date and condition of your identity card or passport several months in advance.
